Young Alumni Achievement Award

Richard Mossman '03

     

Rich Mossman graduated from High Point University in 2003.  He now serves as the Senior Vice President at CBRE group incorporated.  Rich works with some of the largest local and institutional owners and companies in the Triad and is recognized as one of the Triad’s top commercial brokers. In 2007, Rich was awarded Rookie of the Year and has earned numerous Top Producer and Broker of the Year awards. In 2014, he was honored as one of the 40 Leaders Under 40 by the Triad Business Journal.  He continues to stay involved with High Point University by serving as a guest lecturer and a member of the Board of Visitors.  Rich, his wife Nikki, and their three children Pierce, Colin, and Elle live in Greensboro with their two golden retrievers Bailey and Reese.

 

Alumni Service Award

Angela McGill '01

     

Angela G. McGill graduated from High Point University with both her Bachelor’s of Science and Master’s of Business Administration degrees. Following graduation, Angela began her ambitious career with the High Point Housing Authority.  After working hard in several different capacities, Angela was promoted to the position of Chief Operating Officer. She now serves as the first female Chief Executive Officer in the history of the High Point Housing Authority. Angela is extremely active in her community and serves on various commissions and boards such as the YWCA of Greater High Point, HPU Alumni Association, and American Red Cross just to name a few. She is on the Board of Directors at the United Way of Greater High Point, and Alcohol and Drug Services, as well as the Carolina Council of Code and Redevelopment Officials.  Angela has been recognized as 2009 Business Woman Extraordinaire of High Point, 2010 Women Pioneers of the Triad, and 2010 Movers & Shakers. Angela has three children, Dymaan , Daniel, and Maya, and three granddaughters, Tatiyana, Angelina, and Dior.

 

Alumnus of the Year Award

Chris Henson '83

     

Chris began his remarkable career at BB&T in 1985 after graduating from High Point University Cum Laude in 1983. Chris was a member of several honor societies including Alpha Chi and Delta Mu Delta.  He was also a Junior Marshall and a member of the Society for the Advancement of Management and Baptist Student Union. Chris was involved in intramural sports during his time at HPU. He currently is the Chair for the Ten Year Plan to End Chronic Homelessness in Winston-Salem & Forsyth County, and a Member of the Board of Trustees at High Point University. Chris previously served as BB&T’s Chief Financial Officer and was quickly promoted to his current position as Chief Operating Officer in 2009.  Chris married Kim Smith, his high school sweetheart, and the two have been happily married for 30 years.  They have two daughters, Sydney Wilkerson and Kristen Henson.  Sydney graduated from Randolph College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish, and a MAT in Special Education.  She also played volleyball at Randolph College.  Kristen is a senior at Iowa State University, majoring in Animal Science and is a member of the Women’s Cross Country & Track and Field team.

 

Lifetime Achievement Award

Bill and Edna Rose Guy '60, '61

     

As students and alumni, Bill and Edna Rose Guy have been committed members of the HPU family for decades. As students, both were extremely engaged in student life, with Edna Rose serving as president of Kappa Delta, PanHellenic Vice President and staff member of the “Hi Po” and “Zenith,” and Bill serving as president of Pi Kappa Alpha, business manager of the newspaper and the dormitory board. After graduating from High Point College, they pursued graduate degrees at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, East Carolina University and Memphis University. Both served as high school educators, taking on many leadership roles and receiving honors throughout their careers. They returned to HPU, where Bill served as the dean of students in the 1970s. During that time, he and Edna Rose lived on campus and became second parents to many HPU students. The Guys are incredibly dedicated to HPU serving as members of the Steel Magnolias, the Alumni Board, the Panther Club Board and the House Board of Kappa Delta. They are also very involved in the community, serving in various leadership capacities at Emerywood Baptist Church and giving their time to the High Point Theatre Board, State Employees Credit Union Advisory Board, Graduate School Board at UNCG, Friends of the Library Board, and the League of Women Voters, just to name a few.
