HPUniverse Day 2019

Saturday, September 28, 2019 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM

HPUniverse Day is a free, astronomy-themed outreach event held in the Department of Physics at High Point University every fall semester. Visitors are encouraged to explore space, science, and beyond through 25 different learning stations and activities set up in and around the Wanek School of Undergraduate Sciences. Example stations include robotic space rovers, planetarium shows, water bottle rocket launches, making moon craters, hovercraft rides, discovering exoplanets, and many more. While the majority of activities are geared towards kids and their families, there are several that adults will enjoy, too! Upon arrival, kids are given a “passport” to the HPUniverse, which they can get stamped at each station. If they visit enough stations, they can collect a space-themed prize before leaving! Over 100 volunteers come together to put on HPUniverse Day, including HPU professors, students, local amateur astronomers, and friends of the department. Over 3,500 people total have attended the event since its inception in 2014.
