Engage with HPU

HIGH POINT, N.C., Nov. 8, 2018
– A High Point University family is making a major gift to create an endowment that will fund an annual award for staff members who go above and beyond in their service to the university.

Kenneth and Jana Kahn of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, are establishing the Kenneth F. and Jana S. Kahn Extraordinary Staff Award to honor two HPU employees who provide dedicated service to the campus community and live out the university’s mission to provide students with an extraordinary education in an inspiring environment with caring people.

“It takes exceptional faculty and staff employed in many different areas to maintain the high quality of education provided at HPU,” says Kenneth Kahn. “We understand this from leading a business, and we also know how important it is to recognize those who stand out in their performance. We would like to reward members of the staff who promote the values of High Point University and recognize them for their dedication and hard work.”

Kenneth Kahn graduated from Cornell University with a bachelor's degree and from Harvard University with a law degree. He is president of LRP Media Group, a multimillion-dollar global media company serving education and business professionals, which he started in 1977. Recently LRP Media Group acquired University Business, a multimedia resource that provides cutting-edge coverage of education news, technology, academics, facilities management, security, financial services, policy, profiles and opinion. Kenneth serves on various boards and has been honored by many business and civic organizations for his involvement. Jana Shellington Kahn serves as chief marketing officer with LRP.

The Kahns are members of the President’s Leadership Cabinet and are supporters of the HPU Fund for Extraordinary Education and Disaster Relief Fund. Their daughter, one of five children, is a student at HPU.

“We have a tremendous staff at High Point University,” says Dr. Nido Qubein, HPU president. “They spend countless hours investing in the lives of our students as mentors and teachers, as a support system and as a second family. We are grateful for the Kahns’ investment and look forward to recognizing many deserving individuals through this award.”
