Couch Hall to be named in their honor.
A couple with roots in High Point is generously giving $3 million to High Point University.
David Couch, CEO of The Blue Ridge Companies Inc., and his wife Stephanie Quayle, an accomplished singer and songwriter, made the gift to HPU in recognition of the university’s leadership and positive impact in the city of High Point.
Couch worked closely with project development teams at The Blue Ridge Companies Inc., based in High Point, to develop an extensive portfolio of commercial and multi-family properties. Prior to forming Blue Ridge, Couch was co-owner of a commercial real estate brokerage firm in High Point.
As a dedicated developer, Couch has admired HPU’s growth and the new faces it brings to High Point. For example, HPU students frequent The Palladium Shopping Center, a thriving hub of restaurants, shops, entertainment and more that Couch’s team developed.
“I’m grateful to be connected with a university that strives to enhance the lives of its students, and in doing so, has grown tremendously under the leadership of Dr. Nido Qubein,” says Couch. “That growth is critical for the city of High Point’s future. Stephanie and I are so proud to be associated with HPU.”
Quayle is a country music artist who performs in both large and small venues across the country. Her single, “Drinking with Dolly,” produced by multi-#1 producer, recording engineer and mixer Matt McClure, is climbing the Billboard charts. CMT is world premiering the music video to “Drinking with Dolly” on Nov. 8.
Quayle has long admired the leadership of HPU President Nido Qubein and developed much of her own career based on the business principles he shares.
“I am continually inspired by the way High Point University prepares its graduates to provide relevance in a constantly changing world,” Quayle says. “The accomplishments of HPU students, faculty and staff greatly benefit the city of High Point and beyond.”
HPU will name Couch Hall, an academic facility located in the heart of campus along the Kester International Promenade, in honor of the success they’ve achieved throughout their lives. This facility has been called Congdon Hall for a number of years before the Congdon School of Health Sciences, under construction and scheduled to open next year, was named for Earl and Kitty Congdon in 2015.
