THE PARENTS COUNCIL

pc-meetingInvestors in the High Point University Parents Council play a dynamic role in HPU’s success through their annual support of the HPU Fund for Extraordinary Education and gifts of their time and talents.

The Parents Council is open to all parents and families who are interested in supporting the University’s mission of delivering educational experiences that enlighten, challenge and prepare students to lead lives of significance in complex global communities. During HPU’s Fall and Winter Weekends, investors gather for official Council business meetings, an University Update with the President, social activities and the Council-sponsored service-outreach project which is open for all families and their students to participate.

Throughout the year, Parents Council investors support the University by:

  • Making an annual leadership gift of $1,924 – $9,999 to the HPU Fund for Extraordinary Education to provide scholarship assistance to High Point’s extraordinary students;
  • Supporting one or more of the Parents Council Committees.

Parents Council Committees:

  • The Resource Development Committee, chaired by Leslie and Lou Samara (Louis ’19),  provides important information about upcoming events as well on-campus experiences with incoming HPU families. Investors will help grow support for the University. Investors may be asked to serve as letter signers or to share social media messages from the University.
  • The Outreach and Service Committee, chaired by Lisa and Greg Mayes (Kathryn ’19), will help in August with new student move-in as well as attend regional events and Summer Welcome Receptions across the country. This committee will help oversee the service project hosted during Family Weekend.
  • The Student Recruitment Committee, chaired by Kim and Sid Smith (Jessica ’19, Cydney ’19 MBA), greets admitted students and incoming families for scholarship weekends, attend spring Admissions events, and connects prospective students to the appropriate Admissions counselor. You may be asked to offer support to incoming HPU families by sharing your student’s HPU experiences. Members of this committee serve as Admissions Advocates for High Point University.
  • The Career and Professional Development Committee helps provide the bridge from HPU to the real world by creating internship and job shadowing opportunities, host sites for HPU in the City, as well as assisting with career fairs.

In addition to recognizing the philanthropic efforts of Parents Council investors in the President’s Circle Annual Honor Roll of donors, High Point University is pleased to be able to extend a number of opportunities to Council investors including invitations to select campus events and special messages announcing major University news and milestones.
