HIGH POINT, N.C., March 20, 2019 – Netflix Co-Founder Marc Randolph, who serves as High Point University’s Entrepreneur in Residence, has established two full-tuition scholarships. The scholarships were presented on March 19 to two Philadelphia students.
The scholarship recipients are Jardai Sharper and Iyinoluwa Afolayan Ogunyinka, both of whom attend Roxborough High School in Philadelphia.
In addition to tuition, the scholarships also cover room and board, as well as books. The scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate strong academic potential and financial need.
Randolph has a long-time friend who is a teacher at the Philadelphia high school and has mentored students there in the past. Randolph admires the transformational education model HPU upholds for its students and wanted to give Roxborough High School students the opportunity to attend HPU.
“Marc Randolph is both an innovative entrepreneur and a caring mentor,” says HPU President Nido Qubein. “We appreciate him at HPU because he’s an example to our students of someone who can live both a life of professional success and personal significance. HPU is proud to partner with Marc, and we are grateful for his advocacy and support of future leaders.”
As HPU’s Entrepreneur in Residence, Randolph visits HPU to mentor students across campus. During previous visits, Randolph has participated in interactive Q&A sessions with HPU President Nido Qubein, faculty and students, and has guided students in developing their own business ideas.
