HIGH POINT, N.C., Feb. 20, 2019 – High Point University received a gift from the Minor family of the city of High Point and will rename the Infinity Garden outside of Roberts Hall in memory of Louise D. Minor, Bill Minor’s late wife. Louise Minor loved flowers, shrubs and gardens and had a gift for cultivation, floriculture and landscaping.
Bill Minor also established the Louise D. and Bill L. Minor Endowed Scholarship fund and has given to the Mariana H. Qubein Arboretum and Botanical Gardens, the HPU Fund for Extraordinary Education and the Panther Club, in which Bill Minor has been a member of since 1976.
“My hope is that my giving will allow students who otherwise might not have the means to attend HPU would be able to take part in a university that has had a profound impact on my life,” says Bill Minor.
Bill Minor graduated from High Point College in 1950 with a degree in business administration. He served in WWII and upon returning, married Louise Daily and began attending High Point College.
Louise Minor was a fan of the HPU men’s and women’s basketball teams and loved the energy of the band and cheerleaders at each game.
Bill Minor is retired from William’s Sales Co. and McEwen Lumber Co., where he spent most of his working career. He is a life member of HPU’s President’s Leadership Cabinet and longtime member of the Panther’s Club. The Minors shared a love for travel and enjoyed many trips together.
The Minors’ grandchildren, Justin and Ben, graduated from HPU in 1999 and 2002, respectively.
“We appreciate the generosity of all our donors here at HPU,” says HPU President Nido Qubein. “We are so grateful for this gift and Mr. Minor’s faith in our vision for the future of High Point University.”
