Fidler Family Supports HPU and Establishes Scholarship
HIGH POINT, N.C., July 16, 2019 – High Point University’s continued growth was enhanced recently by Bill and Peggy Fidler of Henderson, Kentucky.
The Fidler’s have given a generous gift to establish the William A. Fidler Endowed Scholarship.
“We are most grateful for the support of the Fidler’s who value HPU’s God, family and country focus and give generously to provide scholarship aid for our outstanding students,” says HPU President Nido Qubein.
Recipients will be selected based on financial need, with preference given to a student studying in the Earl N. Phillips School of Business or the Wanek School of Natural Sciences.
Bill is a 1969 HPU graduate and is an active member of the Board of Visitors. Both Peggy and Bill grew up in southeastern Pennsylvania and lived there until 1992 when Bill’s career took them to Henderson, Kentucky. Bill was in the chemical distribution business for 45 years prior to retirement in 2015, and Peggy has been in the horse business for many years.
Bill is the former president and CEO of Brenntag North America, Inc. in Reading, Pennsylvania, and is a retired management board member of Brenntag AG of Mulheim, Germany. He spent 45 years with Brenntag and a predecessor company, Textile Chemical Co. in Reading, Pennsylvania. Bill and Peggy own two companies, RGA Enterprises Inc, a contract packaging company in Charlotte, North Carolina and Americhem Sales Company, a chemical distributor in Mason, Michigan. Both are operated by their sons.
Bill is a member of the Chemical Education Foundation Board of Trustees, chairman of the Board of Healing Reins Therapeutic Riding Center and chairman of the Henderson Boys & Girls Club Board. He has served as a member of the Board of Directors for the National Association of Chemical Distributors and the Board of Henderson Community College.
They have seven children between the two of them ranging in age from 31 to 47, as well as 15 grandchildren.
“I am a strong believer in God, family and country, the foundational orientations that HPU embodies,” says Bill. “I appreciate the focus on integrity, servant leadership, free enterprise, entrepreneurship, religious freedom and the very values that make our country and this university so special.”
