Cook-Boyle Family Supports HPU and Establishes Scholarship
HIGH POINT, N.C., July 12, 2019 – High Point University’s continued growth was enhanced recently by Cher Cook-Boyle and her son, Matt Boyle of Bel Air, Maryland.
The Cook-Boyle family gave a generous gift to establish the Cook-Boyle Family Endowed Scholarship.
“We are most grateful for the support of our families such as the Cook-Boyle’s who value HPU’s God, family and country focus and give generously to provide scholarship aid for our outstanding students,” says HPU President Nido Qubein.
Matt is a member of the Class of 2019 and majored in business. He started his own entrepreneurial venture at 15, which drew him to the programs offered at HPU. Matt has since taken an avid interest in his family giving back to HPU.
The family owns and operates Northeastern Supply Company which began with two small stores in 1972 and has grown to 37 branches across the mid-Atlantic. The family had a passion to give back to the community they loved, so as their business grew, they shared their blessings to make their community stronger.
Cher has been involved in Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, Ashley Treatment Center, Harford County Humane Society and All Mutts Matter Animal Foundation. She is on the board of directors of Project Homecoming, a women’s transitional home in Bel Air. Her passion is helping women choose sober, productive lives that lead to healing of both individuals and the community. This family’s spirit of giving has been recognized by being honored as Philanthropist of the Year in the State of Maryland.
“We created this endowed scholarship as a way of encouraging students to follow the pattern that brought our family success,” says Cher. “That is, to work hard, pursue their dreams and live a life of significance by being generous along the way.”
